The Children’s Book Project (CBP) is a service activity initiated by local chapters of TRTA. The purpose is to put books into the hands of children.
“Reading fosters knowledge and opens up the imagination. Every child should have books to call his or her own.”
The TRTA guidelines for the Children’s Book Project involve using donations, money from fundraising efforts, or contributions to collect books and encourage reading. ARTA members collect and or books throughout the year from different sources for the spring distribution at a selected elementary school. ARTA also partners with a doner school who collect books for our distribution as well.
Our 2024-2025 doner school, Maplewood Elementary, collected 463 books and ARTA members collected 410 books for a total of 873 books. In April 2025, ARTA members gathered at Cook Elementary school's library to place book plates inside the books. Then they were sorted for distributions to the students.
ARTA's CBP committee is already collecting books for the April 2026 distribution.
