Volunteerism: the principle of donating time and energy as a social responsibility.
We are pleased to report that in 2023 the Austin Retired Teachers Association collected a monetary equivalent contribution of $1,419,854 with only 65 of our members reporting their total hours of service. Those 65 individuals reported a collective 44,650 hours at a value of $31.80 per hour. Just imagine if every ARTA member reported their volunteer hours next January what we could show our legislators!
Please keep track of your volunteer hours throughout 2024 so you can submit them to ARTA by January 24, 2025.
Use the downloadable form found on this page. You can then submit the completed form to Dr. Marsha Lyons-Gray.

- Political and civic events (including ARTA & TRTA)

- Personal assistance to family, neighbors, friends, and others (Up to 12 hours per day)

- Assistance to churches, synagogues and other religious institutions
- Food pantry

- Fundraising for worthy community services
- Assistance League
- Settlement Club Garage Sale
- Park/Lake clean-up workday
VOLUNTEER HOURS
Volunteer hours are the services you provide without pay to make this a better world. The time you spend helping others is valuable. Let's make it count with legislators. The photo above is the presentation to Deputy Comptroller Chief of Staff Lisa Craven by Marsha Lyons-Gray and Norma Jost of a check representing our 2024 volunteer hours and the monitory value of those hours.

- 2020: 41,049 hours valued at $1,116,532.80
- 2021: 20,283.5 hours valued at $551,711.20
- 2022: 23,017 hours valued at $689,613.73
- 2023: 44,650 hours valued at $1,419,854.00
- 2024: 83,845 hours valued at $2,807,969.05
