The Children’s Book Project (CBP) is a service activity initiated by local chapters of TRTA. The purpose is to put books into the hands of children.

Children’s Book Project Guidelines
The TRTA guidelines for the Children’s Book Project involve using donations, money from fundraising efforts, or contributions to collect books and encourage reading. ARTA members collect and or books throughout the year from different sources for the spring distribution at a selected elementary school. ARTA also partners with a doner school who collect books for our distribution as well.

A heartfelt thank you to all ARTA members who volunteered at Blackshear and Mathews elementary schools for our 2026 TRTA Children's Book Project, coordinated by Maria Martinez. Together, ARTA members and our partnering schools donated an amazing 1,303 books to children!
ARTA's CBP committee is already collecting books for the April 2026 distribution.

Jumpstart Kids, Read for the Record is February 25, 2027, this school year. This book chosen is Brave Like a Lion! How a Puppeteer Found Her Voice by Megan Piphus, illustrated by Niña Mata. Mark you calendar and join us again, reading to children across Austin.
